چکیده

The deformation of a fluid interface by the acoustic radiation pressure has been used for surface tension measurements or to design exotic structures such as diodes. However, few studies focus on characterization spatial characteristics induced transient excitation, making research requiring precise control challenging. This paper investigates experimentally and numerically effects excitation generated an at water–air interface. A numerical model using finite-element method based theoretical background permanent is generalized excitation. An experimental setup developed evaluate maximum height different durations amplitudes ultrasonic two complementary methods: first camera edge detection algorithm other multichromatic confocal displacement sensor. Numerical results non-steady-state show quadratic evolution function incident also linear increase duration. evaluation paves way applications noncontact space-time modulation, subwavelength phenomena.

Transient anomaly imaging by the acoustic radiation force∗

This paper is devoted to provide a solid mathematical foundation for a promising imaging technique based on the acoustic radiation force, which acts as a dipolar source. From the rigorously established asymptotic expansions of nearand far-field measurements of the transient wave induced by the anomaly, we design asymptotic imaging methods leading to a quantitative estimation of physical and geo...

Effect of surface tension on the acoustic radiation pressure-induced motion of the water-air interface

The displacement of a water-air interface and its relaxation as a function of acoustic energy density and surface tension were analyzed both experimentally and numerically. Experimental systems were devised to observe the time evolution of the surface. A theoretical model to predict the response of the interface to acoustic excitation was also developed. It was found that the Langevin pressure ...

Deformation of red blood cells using acoustic radiation forces.

Acoustic radiation forces have been used to manipulate cells and bacteria in a number of recent microfluidic applications. The net force on a cell has been subject to careful investigation over a number of decades. We demonstrate that the radiation forces also act to deformcells. An ultrasonic standing wave field is created in a 0.1 mm glass capillary at a frequency of 7.9 MHz. Using osmoticall...

Numerical Analysis of Severe Plastic Deformation by High Pressure Torsion

High-pressure torsion (HPT) is a metal processing method in which the sample is subjected to a very high plastic shear deformation. This process can produce exceptional levels of grain refinement, and provides a corresponding improvement in mechanical properties. To investigate the stress and strain distribution due to HPT process finite element simulation were conducted to investigate effectiv...
